UNARMED CRISIS RESPONSE

CIRCLE LA LOGO

Councilmember O’Farrell believes all Angelenos and their families deserve to feel safe in their communities, and the City’s public safety policy must reflect this.

In 2020, Mitch signed onto an initiative that will work to divert non-violent calls for service to unarmed service providers, including mental health professionals. Mitch supported the adoption of the new City budget in 2021 that provided funding to pilot this program — Crisis and Incident Response through Community-Led Engagement (CIRCLE) — in two communities in Los Angeles, including Hollywood.

Mitch is committed to ensuring that this program, and other innovative models of public safety, are developed thoughtfully and effectively so that all Angelenos feel safe in every neighborhood across the City.
