Council Approves Ordinance to Keep Hollyhock Revenue at Historic Landmark

LA’s historic gem, the Hollyhock House at Barnsdall Art Park, has seen tremendous success lately. We recently restored this architectural masterpiece, and there has been a significant increase in attendance. The latest news is that my colleagues on the City Council and I took steps to make the facility even more sustainable. We passed an ordinance that ensures the revenue generated from ticket sales at the facility are reinvested back into the House for maintenance and upkeep. Now that it's sparkling again, we need to keep it that way indefinitely. This is important moving forward, especially since the UNESCO World Heritage organization is considering designating the landmark as a notable cultural and historic site. PHOTO: Joshua White
