Celebrating the First Year of 'A Bridge Home' in Hollywood

City Hall
Friends,

The 'A Bridge Home' facility in Hollywood opened a year ago, and I want to share the progress being made to find housing for its clients.

In March of 2019, the shelter program opened a facility on Schrader Blvd in Hollywood. ‘A Bridge Home’ is a citywide program that guides Angelenos on a path out of homelessness and into supportive housing. The Schrader facility provides interim housing and supportive services for up to 72 residents at a time.

We opened the site with the objective of welcoming nearby homeless neighbors and helping them start their transition toward a life in safe, stable, and more permanent housing. Since opening last year, 15 people have moved into their own homes! One of those individuals is Alina Carmona. Read about her story here.

The mission continues as we seek to lift our fellow Angelenos out of poverty and homelessness. Soon, we will be opening 180 units of permanent supportive housing near Vermont Ave and Beverly Blvd. We’re also continuing with our plans to build permanent supportive housing on Glendale Blvd in Echo Park. We are working toward opening 670 units of permanent supportive housing by 2023 in the 13th District alone.

I look forward to working with you as we continue to address the homelessness and poverty crisis in our city.

Kind regards,

MITCH O’FARRELL

MAYOR: PARKS CLOSED EASTER SUNDAY

LOS ANGELES -- Mayor Eric Garcetti announced today that all City of Los Angeles parks will be closed to the public for more than 24 hours beginning Saturday evening. The move comes ahead of Easter Sunday, to help encourage Angelenos to remain in their homes at a critical moment in the fight against COVID-19.

Currently, trailheads, recreation centers and all City park amenities are closed –– with parks open only for walking or jogging. Today, the Mayor has directed the Department of Recreation and Parks to fully close all parks beginning the evening of Saturday, April 11 through the morning of Monday, April 13. Restrooms in parks will remain open during normal hours.

FACIAL COVERINGS REQUIRED

LOS ANGELES - As part of a new emergency order, all Angelenos must wear facial coverings when visiting an essential business. Workers at these businesses are also required to wear a covering, which employers must provide. This step will save lives and protect each other as we slow the spread of COVID-19.
