Meet Our Staff
Sam Siegel
Legislative Deputy
Sam oversees environmental, budget, and public safety policy for
the office. This work includes issues relating to water quality,
energy conservation and efficiency, reducing emissions and helping
to slow climate change, and developing strategies to encourage
green building in the city. It also includes working on the city's
budget priorities, and working with the police and fire departments
to make Los Angeles safer and more secure. Additionally, Sam staffs
the councilmember at events throughout the district, so the next
time you see Council President Garcetti, look out for Sam.
Sam is a three-year intern veteran of the office. Working every
summer since 2003 in the field, his assignments varied from handling
constituent calls to working on housing issues to shepherding the
Glendale streetscape improvements in Atwater Village through the
administrative and construction processes.
In between intern stints, Sam attended Brandeis University outside
of Boston. A product of the LAUSD school system, he completed a
B.A. in Chemistry as well as a B.A. in Politics while at Brandeis,
graduating in 2006.
Sam was born and raised in Los Angeles, having graduated from
Venice High in 2002. He currently lives in the Mar Vista/Marina
Del Rey area.
